A Framework:
There are three main categories or ‘buckets’ that are the core of life success or happiness: Experiences, Growth, and Contribution.
Reflecting on what you really want for these 3 categories will give you a blueprint into your soul core and make you discover what it takes for you to know you truly lived life.
How to start using the 3MIQ Framework?
Get a piece of paper. Hold it landscape. Draw 3 vertical lines. Add a line at the top to finish drawing 3 columns. Title them Experiences, Growth, and Contribution.
“Your life is not just about you. Your life is about the lives of everyone else you touch” - Neale Donald Walsch
We tend to get lost in our own sadness and hopelessness. And we tend to fail seeing that, if we live a life to serve, we are less likely o fall into a negative spiral full of negative emotions.
We can dedicate a part of our energy to give a better life for as many people as we can. Your family, your kids, your couple, your coworkers, your community, humanity at a large scale. This way you dedicate your life as a contributor to the net happiness and well-being of all humanity.
This is what the 3rd column of the 3MIQ Framework is about!
Giving is a great contributor to happiness. If you want to get to your life goals, giving and contributing is the faster way to do it. You can leverage this by having a Happiness Advantage.
Did you know that some experts found that doctors are 90% better at diagnoses when they are happy? Sales people are 55% better at closing sales when they are happy. Students do better at exams, Entrepreneurs do better at achieving their goals, Teams do better when the participants are happy.
This means that “contribution is the ultimate hack for happiness”
“If you want to be happy, make people happy” - Dalai Lama
So how can you start contributing?
You can start by showing up every day as a kinder, more empathetic, more gentler person. With every person that show up in your life.
You can create a business or a career with a positive impact in the world.
For this one, ask yourself honestly:
Is my product, good or service helping other people and also responsible for long-term humanity? (Think about the environment, health or well-being of other people)
Are you working for a company that is Humanity Plus or Humanity Minus
This may be a tough one but it is important to be honest!
If you are participating in a Humanity Minus project, you might want to question your career decision! (I told you this might be a tough one) and, as painful as it may be you might need to make a career shift
Are you creating something to bring joy to the world? (Think about music, art, poems, writing, software)
Are you sharing your abilities, money, knowledge or time with others who do not have it easy?
No matter how sad your life might be, giving back is one of the fastest ways to happiness. So, think about all the ways you want to contribute to the world. No matter how big or small your ideas, write down every way you want to make the world a better place.
It is time!
Get yourself comfortable, set a timer to 5 minutes, put on some relaxing music, and write from your heart, without questioning yourself a lot.
Guiding Questions:
How could you contribute to your family, friends, society, city, or even the entire planet?
