Last week, as I prepared for an important project kickoff, I found myself seeking the ideal framework to communicate clear and actionable goals to my team and our client.
I had just 15-20 minutes for the presentation, I needed something effective and straightforward.
I began with OKRs and attempted to condense everything into a few slides. But it felt a bit complex for a quick call, so I explored the Backward Goal-Setting framework. Yet, that didn't quite feel right either, and I realized I was overcomplicating things.
Finally, I had an "aha" moment and decided to return to the trusted and reliable SMART Goals framework. Suddenly, I could see how neatly the pieces fit together.
It's ironic how, in my pursuit of looking smart, I did remember the simplicity and power that SMART Goals brought to this kind of process.
With SMART Goals, I confidently presented our objectives, knowing we had a solid roadmap for success.
