How to build a Business Operating System? Unleash the power of your business.
Today, I will share a free version of the most professional and powerful tool I have built so far: Business OS
This week I was researching a lot about OKM (Organization Knowledge Management).
And yes, I agree the name sounds SO BORING… but, if I can get you a quick glance at it, I am sure you will see the breathtaking benefits around it.
Let´s see it this way… if a Second Brain or Personal Knowledge Management is so powerful, imagine connecting the knowledge of an entire organization.
“Imagine all the results you can achieve and the ideas that would come up from having a Collective Digital Brain / Shared Business Operating System”
Today at a glance:
Building a Business Operating System is straightforward if you follow this guideline:
It must be scalable. Based on databases.
It must be accessible. To avoid having information gatekeepers (Depending on just one person to get an important piece of knowledge)
Needs to be intuitive. Using instructions, visual aids, etc.
A Framework
In the digital era, organizing information in an easily accessible way is crucial for any business (actually, for any person)
According to some research, every day, an average worker wastes up to 2.5 hours searching for information.
The first step to improving your business knowledge management is a Digital Operating System. Then, you will be able to break down knowledge silos, centralize information and make it quick and easy to retrieve information whenever you need it.
A few key guidelines to achieve this:
It must be scalable.
The traditional approach of keeping information stored in Google Docs is a good example of a system that gets complicated as you grow.
On the other hand, storing information in a database is far more scalable, because you can retrieve any piece of information in various ways.
It must be accessible to the right employees.
Having information gatekeepers means the only way for someone else in the organization to access certain information is to talk to the gatekeeper.
To avoid having information gatekeepers you need a collaborative tool based online.
Needs to be intuitive. Using instructions, visual aids, etc.
Your setup must be easily understandable by everyone in the organization.
Using one tool for many use cases cuts down on the time and resources spent on training your employees.
You can easily embed visual elements to guide other employees through their work.
A Notion Tool
Getting started with a Business Operating System can seem overwhelming. But don’t worry, it’s actually fairly simple if you have a basic structure. To help you off the ground, I have been building for several weeks what I think is the most professional and powerful tool I have developed so far: Notion Business OS.
Each section is based on extensive research with colleagues and entrepreneurs so you will find all the tools you need, in just one workspace!
I also developed a Free Version. You will have enough to start and try it out.
